DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity

Verizon is honored to be ranked once again among the DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity. We’ve earned a spot on this prestigious list every year since it started in 2001 – 15 consecutive years – and for good reason. We’re one of the most widely recognized companies when it comes to fostering a diverse and inclusive culture.

In 2015 alone, we’ve been named one of America’s Top Corporations For Women by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council, a Top 50 Employer by Careers and the disABLED Magazine, one of the 40 Best Companies for Diversity by Black Enterprise, a Top Company for Executive Women, and the No. 1 Company on Military Times’ Best For Vets: Employers list, to name a few.

Verizon also has a long-standing commitment to supplier diversity, purchasing $24.5 billion over the past five years from business enterprises certified as being owned by minorities, women and service-disabled veterans. We’re also a charter member of the Billion Dollar Roundtable, a coalition of 19 corporations that spend more than $1 billion each year with diverse suppliers.

And last year, Verizon’s Treasury Department worked with 13 diverse businesses (owned by minorities, women and veterans) on 10 financial transactions worth approximately $38 billion.

As our company Credo states, “We embrace diversity and personal development not only because it’s the right thing to do, but because it is smart business.” Inclusion and diversity at Verizon are not about numbers. It’s about sitting at the table and being surrounded by people, all from different backgrounds and experiences, who bring a diversity of thought to the discussion. That helps make us a better company.
