Bell Atlantic Demonstrates High-Speed Internet Access at Allegany County Legislative Reception
Company's ISDN Service Available in Western Maryland

ANNAPOLIS -- Bell Atlantic - Maryland will show off speedy access to
the Internet today at an annual legislative reception hosted by
Allegany County.
The company will demonstrate its ISDN (Integrated Services Digital
Network) service, which transmits voice, data, video and graphics over
a single, digital telephone line at speeds up to four times faster
than typical dial-up computer modems.
Legislators, business people and others will see firsthand how ISDN
enables them to quickly connect to information resources such as the
Internet. Participants will be able to link to Web sites of state and
local government, as well as a number of Allegany County businesses.

For 22 years, Allegany County has hosted the PACE (Positive Attitudes
Change Everything) reception during the Maryland General Assembly's
90-day session. PACE '98 is sponsored by The Greater Allegany
Business Foundation and held in honor of the governor and members of
the General Assembly.
