Caller ID, Other Services Give Customers More Time for Summer Fun

NEW YORK -- Whether you're relaxing at the mountain cabin, sunning
on the beach or driving the kids to camp, you'll find ways to beat the heat
of getting organized this summer, thanks to Bell Atlantic.
Bell Atlantic this week rolled out new price breaks on time-saving services
ranging from Caller ID to additional lines to Home Voice Mail, the
company's residence telephone answering service.
"The last thing customers want is to be tied to their phones when they
could be out enjoying themselves," said Amy McIntosh, vice president --
consumer marketing, Bell Atlantic. "We want to help them dispense with
business and move on to their summer activities. We have high-quality
products and services that will help customers track and retrieve messages
from anywhere, screen calls quickly and manage their time using additional
lines. And through August, we're offering these services at great prices."
The new campaign follows Bell Atlantic's most successful consumer-
focused sales effort in its history, in which 8.5 million units were sold in
one quarter alone.
Bell Atlantic's most popular services lead the savings campaign:
- Caller ID: Customers who purchase Caller ID can receive
discounts, waivers on installation or a display box at no charge,
depending on individual state offers. - Home Voice Mail: Customers can receive a month's free
service or a waiver of installation and setup charges, based on
offers in individual states. - Additional Lines: Customers can receive price breaks on
installation fees and discounts on the service. Do-it-yourselfers
can save on Connect-A-Kits in some states. - Call Manager: This service provides Caller ID, Home Voice
Mail and Call Waiting in one easy package. Depending on
where customers live, they can receive display boxes at no
charge or credits on their monthly bills. - Easy Voice/Voice Dialing: Customers can receive special
price breaks on installation or the first month's service,
depending on individual state offers.
Bell Atlantic also will test its time management services among its rapidly
growing base of telecommuters by offering a special Caller ID package in
Massachusetts. In this trial, the customer can purchase a combination of
time management services and receive an advanced telephone set at no
charge.
The company also plans to test a rebate program in a limited number of
states that could save customers $10 to $40, depending on the products
and services ordered.
"A savvy marketing company appeals to the diverse needs of all its
customers, and that's what we're doing with these discounts," said
McIntosh. "Regardless of how busy you are, we have a service for you."
