Eurotel Praha Launches IP-Telephony Service

Prague, Czech Republic -- EuroTel Praha today announced
it launched NetCall-55, an Internet Protocol (IP) telephony service that
streamlines international calling and offers savings of up to 60% over
traditional long distance prices.
EuroTel's NetCall-55 provides voice quality comparable to traditional
dedicated-circuit networks.
"NetCall-55 is one of Europe's first glimpses at a new
communications model. Improved sound quality, significant savings, no
additional fees or registration, and calls to some destinations are less
expensive than using a landline phone. This is another step toward
dramatically enhancing the value and ease-of-use of mobile
telephony," said EuroTel CEO Ed Kingman.
Customers activate the service by dialing "55" -- instead of
"00" -- before the country code and telephone number.
Instead of using a traditional dedicated circuit for each call, IP networks
break up voice calls into tiny digitized packets that carry addresses to help
deliver complete conversations to the right destination, in the right order.
Packet networks benefit from greater network efficiencies that boost cost
savings and capacity compared to analog networks.
EuroTel Praha Ltd is a joint venture of SPT TELECOM Inc. (51%) and
Atlantic West B.V. (49%). Atlantic West B.V. is equally owned by Bell
Atlantic (NYSE:BEL) and MediaOne International, which is a part of
MediaOne Group (NYSE:UMG). Visit EuroTel's web site at
