MIDDLETOWN, N.J. -- A scholarship dedicated to the
memory of slain
teacher Kathleen Stanfield-Weinstein will receive a $2,500
contribution today from Bell Atlantic.
In addition, Bell Atlantic will award $2,500 to Ocean of Love, a Toms
River charity founded to assist the families of Ocean County children
who have been diagnosed with cancer.
The awards represent two portions of a one-time $5,000 grant
associated with Project Smart, a school-to-work partnership between
Bell Atlantic and Ocean County Vocational Technical School.
"Both grants honor the memories of next-door heroes: a dedicated
teacher and those who have been claimed by cancer," said Len J.
Lauer, president of Bell Atlantic-New Jersey. "At the same
time, the
money will be put to work in the service of children and their
future."
The presentation ceremony for the Weinstein scholarship will take
place at 3 p.m. at Thorne Middle School, 70 Murphy Road, Middletown.
Ocean of Love will receive its grant at 12:30 p.m. at Bell Atlantic's
Project Smart Facility, Ocean County Vocational Technical School, Toms
River.
