A port out occurs when you move your Verizon line of service to a different carrier.
You must keep your Verizon account open, and the line must remain active until the move is completed.
Note: If Number Lock is enabled on one of your lines to protect against unauthorized port outs, you'll need to check the current status in MyBusiness. You must disable Number Lock before porting out that number. See: How do I manage Number Lock?
Fraud prevention tip: We send a confirmation text to any mobile number that requested a port out. If you didn't authorize the transfer, call the number in our message.
Generate a Number Transfer PIN for each line to be ported out in My Business.
Tell your new carrier which lines you want to move. Number Transfer PINs are unique to each line you port out.
Use the Number Transfer PIN and your Verizon account number to authorize the new carrier to start the transfer. The new carrier will contact Verizon, transfer your number and disconnect your line(s).
A Number Transfer PIN (NTP) is a temporary PIN that customers must obtain for each line and provide to another carrier when porting a number from Verizon. To create an NTP, Number Lock must be disabled. Each NTP is unique to the number it was generated for.
Upon generation, you will receive your Number Transfer Pin by text message to your device that is being ported, and an email to the requesting authorized user.
You must be an authorized user in order to generate an NTP.
Authorized My Business Roles: Primary Contact and Administrator
Your Number Transfer Pin is valid for 7 days and can be generated a maximum of 5 times per line in one day. Do not generate a new NTP if the PIN has already been provided to another carrier; this may interfere with the port out process. You must keep your Verizon account open until the move is completed.
