During this lesson, students will learn the function of a Security Operations Center (SOC) and explore SOC Analyst as a career. They will be introduced to the types of tools used by SOC Analysts, including an Intrusion Detection System (IDS) and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM). They will round out the lesson by designing their own SIEM dashboard. 

 

Objectives

  • Explore SOC Analyst job tasks and tools
  • Define Intrusion Detection System (IDS) and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM)
  • Design a SIEM Dashboard by completing the Intruder Alert Worksheet
