Did Verizon save Christmas in Dallas? According to the Dallas News, “If it were a holiday movie, it could be called How a Communications Giant Saved Christmas for Dallas.”
Giving this Texas tradition some holiday magic when it was needed most.
When it comes to holiday parades, Macy’s Thanksgiving bash and the Tournament of Roses on New Year’s Day are both favorites. But for the Lone Star State (and parade aficionados everywhere), there’s another parade you won’t want to miss.
This Texas tradition needed a miracle
For 35 years, the Dallas Holiday Parade has brought holiday magic to North Texas. This year, Verizon made the magic possible – when organizers needed it most.
This August, the parade’s previous sponsor announced it would cut support. Many worried that it wouldn’t have the financial backing needed to continue. That is, until Verizon stepped up.

“When we found out that the presenting sponsor for the Dallas Holiday Parade had backed out, we took action and we are so glad we were able to swoop in and save the holidays for the Dallas Holiday Parade,” said Michelle Miller, the Coastal Plains Market President. “It didn’t miss a beat.”
Test Force stepped in to make the holidays bright
With just weeks to go, Test Force and a group of cross-functional partners stepped in to add capacity and upgrades that would normally take months.
So, how do you create a lot of network capacity for an event in a very compact area? If you said, with a COW, you’re almost right. Instead of deploying a COW (Cell On Wheels), COLT (Cell On Light Trucks) or CROW (Cellular Repeater On Wheels), which we’ve used for other large events, this one required a SEAL (basically scissor lift with 4G and 5G capacity to augment existing infrastructure) – a crafty solution to the challenge,

With Big Red, Test Force, a Verizon pop-up store, and plenty of V Teamers to cheer him on, Santa arrived in Dallas. He waved to the crowd from atop the Verizon float.
