Joe Russo

Executive Vice President & President of Global Networks and Technology

Joe Russo serves as Executive Vice President and President of Global Networks and Technology (GN&T) at Verizon. In this role, Joe leads the team responsible for Verizon’s cutting-edge technology and product development, including the design, construction, and maintenance of the nation’s premier wireless network, the industry-leading Fios broadband service, and an extensive IP network that connects global customers in over 120 countries.

With nearly 30 years of experience at Verizon, Joe has held a variety of leadership roles across Core Engineering, Network Operations, Consumer Customer Service, Wholesale & Enterprise Service Delivery, and Northeast Field Operations. Notably, he played a key role in the development and launch of Fios, Verizon’s 100% fiber network known for its speed and reliability, bringing industry-leading internet connectivity to millions of homes across the mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions.

Joe began his journey at Verizon in 1995 as an intern with Bell Atlantic, demonstrating a commitment to innovation and excellence that has been the hallmark of his career ever since.

Corporate and Charitable Leadership

In addition to his leadership at Verizon, Joe serves on the Board of Directors for NAF, a national education nonprofit dedicated to preparing students for college, careers, and future success by connecting schools and businesses. He is also a board member of GSMA, a global organization that drives collaboration across the mobile ecosystem to foster innovation, enhance business environments, and support societal progress.

Educational and Personal Background

Joe earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from James Madison University and an MBA from the Lubin School of Business at Pace University. As a dynamic leader in both the corporate and philanthropic worlds, Joe remains passionate about leveraging technology to power and empower how people live, work, and play.
