Challenge​​ 

  • NASCAR needs to improve in-venue wireless communication services at the 12 racetracks it owns​​   
  • NASCAR fans want to follow their favorite drivers and share photos with other fans inside and outside the track during races​​  
  • Race venues are much larger than other sports arenas, making it more difficult to provide good cellular service​​   

Solution​​  

  • Verizon will work with NASCAR to upgrade in-venue wireless communications services, starting with improved Wi-Fi service in 12 racetracks, over the next three years​​ 
  • The 12 racetracks are in Fontana, CA; Joliet, IL; Darlington, SC; Daytona, FL; Homestead-Miami, FL; Kansas City, KS; Martinsville, VA; Brooklyn, MI; Richmond, VA; Talladega, AL; Watkins Glen, NY; and near Phoenix, AZ​​ 
  • Verizon has been named the Official Wireless Telecommunications and 5G Mobility Partner of NASCAR​​ 

Projected Outcome​​ 

  • Fans at the race will enjoy improved connectivity, and drivers and their teams will have more reliable communications​​ 
  • NASCAR fans will be able to capture and send photos and videos, follow their favorite drivers, and connect with friends outside the track and other fans at the race​​ 
  • NASCAR and Verizon are leading the way in providing enhanced wireless connectivity at large outdoor venues​​
