5 reasons why two phones are smarter than one

Already own a smartphone? Learn why you might need another.

With all of the smartphones on the market, it's hard to settle on just one. But you don't have to. Learn five reasons why you might actually need two smartphones.

1. Keep home and work life separate

It's simple enough: one phone for work, one phone for home. Especially if you own your own business, having two phones is a perfect way to keep your life a little more organized. Or if your employer provides a phone for you, you can get another one that better fits your personal needs. That's the best of both worlds. Plus, when you're at home, it's time to relax, not answer work emails or business calls.

Do you work outside or in construction? If you need a phone that can stand up to more wear and tear, having a rugged phone for work (or home, for that matter) and another for "safer" environments can ensure you never fall out of touch.

2. Always have a backup

Have you experienced the anguish of watching your phone sink to the bottom of a toilet bowl? Or maybe the kids got a hold of it and decided to give it to the dog as a chew toy. Keeping another phone as a backup, even if it’s a basic phone, means never having to rely on a Facebook® status as your sole means of communication.

Having a phone just for emergencies can be useful as well, especially if you have children. Keep it charged at all times in your car, a kitchen drawer or another safe spot for use in emergency situations. It's a good idea to keep emergency contacts updated and easily accessible on the emergency phone.

3. International jet-setting made easier

For the constant traveler, having a World Device with an international travel plan makes taking off on a moment’s notice much easier. One less thing to worry about, right? And if you happen to have friends or family overseas, keeping a phone handy for when they visit could save them tons of money in roaming charges, ensuring a stress-free stay.

4. Choose your favorite operating systems

Forget about choosing sides. Now, you can indulge in the operating systems you love best. For example, you may want to have a BlackBerry® device for work, but a Windows® Phone is more familiar and syncs better with your desktop computer.

5. Two different sizes

Having a small, compact phone (such as the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime™) that fits easily in your pocket is convenient, especially when you’re walking to class, driving carpools or running to your next meeting. But a smartphone with a larger screen size (like the 5.5-inch screen on the LG G4) can be more convenient for playing games and watching video. With two smartphones, you get the best of both worlds.
