I asked for a phone that had ONLY text and calls, NO internet. This phone does more. I also suspect it isn't tracking things properly like my data??? My idea was a phone for a kid that ONLY does talk and text. Does that exist? maybe a slide phone with a keyboard top make texting easier??? Just saying because you asked.

I am thankful to still be able to obtain a flip phone; however, it seems like this version has changes that are meant to drive people away from using it. As a long time flip phone user, I can say this version is less practical than it's predecessors. I have tried to think of it as learning new ways of doing things, though that's hard to tell yourself when the changes all take extra steps and time every day. Particular issues that bother me every week, if not every day are: 1) Texting is more difficult now due to having to fumble through trying to have proper capitalization. For some reason, the short cuts to capitalize and switch between all caps (ABC) and caps/lowercase (Abc) are separated by the numbers setting (123). This makes capitalizing within sentences more tedious. They used to be next to each other, plus there was a key to shortcut to capitalization. 2) You cannot forward texts from others to someone else. For example, I can't forward a text from my child's coach to my spouse. That leads to having to remember to communicate in a way that takes longer with my spouse. 3) For some reason, when I try to start a text, it is set to the numbers (123) setting first for input of who to message to. I don't usually type in numbers to text someone! I want to not have to always toggle to letters (Abc) to start a text. 4) It is hard to hold a lot of names/phone numbers in my contacts. If I'm in the middle of scrolling contacts and then try to type the first few letters of a name, it doesn't pull up the name unless I scroll alllll the way back to the top. 5) It is extra steps to add a second phone number. I had to re-enter a lot of my contact list's details from a spreadsheet I had made after "everything transferred" to this generation of TCL flip phone. I believe this is because the new version was not synced to receive input from the old version. Again, these changes make using the new version more tedious and time consuming. I don't care about the new games, etc....I just want to be able to communicate. The new emojis and better photo quality are nice features, though I would rather have better design for ease of communication. I think that's the most basic reason people carry a mobile phone, so I wish that were prioritized in design. I'm giving this an overall 3 stars because I'm glad to be able to get a flip phone again, and I was able to change some annoying sounds in their settings. Overall though, there is daily tedium that I haven't had for the last 15 years. I know there are people going from smart phones to flip phones for the first time ever, and unfortunately they can't enjoy the ease of use that I once so appreciated, such as being able to text without looking. I would have recommended the previous version in the past, though I now wonder if there are better programmed/designed flip phones out there that offer communication with more ease and freedom.

Phone works well and is reasonably simple for an old person, but still can't quite figure out some of its features; e.g. I don't want to and don't text and eliminating unwanted voice mails is a burdensome. Neither need nor want the camera feature nor do I want to receive "reminders" or notes from Verizon.

Took my TCL 1 to Verizon to upgrade. Rep tried transferring al items onto new phone. However, no photos and no texts would carry over. So now I have to stay with my old phone. How could these things not transfer?
