Verizon One Talk - Customer Notifications

Septiembre 2023 - Apple iOS 17 Live Voicemail Feature Impacting One Talk Users with iPhones

Apple is introducing a new feature called Live Voicemail in iOS 17 for Apple phones. Live Voicemail gives users the ability to see real-time transcription as someone leaves voicemail and the opportunity to pick up while the caller is leaving their message.

Impacts to One talk services will be immediate upon device upgrade as the feature is turned ON by default. Verizon recommends turning this feature off after upgrading to iOS 17 as it will interfere with Verizon's service.

Note: This issue impacts iPhones upgraded to iOS 17 that are provisioned with Verizon One Talk numbers. Enabling Live Voicemail on iPhones with the One Talk app will not cause the issues listed below.

Impacts when Live Voicemail is turned "ON"

When Live Voicemail is enabled on iPhones that are One Talk numbers, the following are impacts to the One Talk service:

    • The voicemail is answered by the iPhone device and not deposited on the Verizon voicemail platform when the iPhone is on and connected to the network.
    • One Talk apps and desk phones associated with the line will not be notified of new messages or see an indicator that voice messages are waiting when Live Voicemail receives the call.
    • One Talk apps and desk phones will not be able to access the voicemail deposited to the Live Voicemail iPhone.
    • One Talk call reports will show a call that was sent to Live Voicemail as answered by the line.
    • Hunt Group rotation and Call Queue rotation stop with an iPhone that answers with Live Voicemail.
    • Another One Talk device and/or number can barge into the Live Voicemail session and listen to the message being deposited on the device.
    • When a personal simultaneous ring is routed to a number with a Live Voicemail enabled, then it will deposit the caller into the device's Live Voicemail.
