Here’s how your network is optimized for speed.
With Wi-Fi, one factor that affects the internet speed is the frequency of the signal.
Generally speaking, a higher frequency offers faster Wi-Fi, but the signal can’t travel as far as with a lower frequency.
So for devices in rooms far away from the Verizon equipment, a lower frequency is preferred–especially for devices that don’t require a lot of bandwidth, like smart home devices.
The Primary network offers a range of frequencies, from 2.4 gigahertz to 5 gigahertz, or even 6 gigahertz with certain equipment. Just remember, 5 gigahertz isn't the same as 5G, which simply stands for 5th generation cellular network.
To take the guesswork out of choosing a frequency, your Primary network has a feature called Self-Organizing Network, or SON, that detects how your device is connecting, along with its signal strength, and connects it to the frequency that will work best.
So once your devices are connected, they’re continuously optimized for speed.
