Phone can't receive calls or calls are dropped

Your phone or device might not be receiving calls because:

• Your device is on "do not disturb"
• Your device is in Airplane mode or Silent mode
  
• You blocked the number that's trying to reach you
• You're in an area with little or no network coverage
  
• Your phone's software is out of date
• You have call forwarding set up
• There’s a problem with your NumberShare subscription

These steps can help incoming calls reach your device. If they don't work, use our Troubleshooting Assistant for more help:

• Restart your phone:
  • Android - Varies by device manufacturer, but most require holding down the power button for a few seconds to power off. Power back on by pressing the power button.
  • Apple iOS - Varies by the generation of device. Older devices require pressing and holding the power button to power the device off. Newer devices require  pressing and holding the volume button and power button simultaneously. Power back on by pressing the power button.
• Turn off do not disturb -Do not disturb prevents you from being notified that someone is calling you. Follow the Android or Apple iPhone instructions to turn off do not disturb.
• Turn off Airplane mode - Airplane mode prevents your device from connecting to cellular and Wi-Fi networks, which means calls won't reach you. Follow the Android or Apple iPhone instructions to turn off airplane mode.
• Turn off silent mode - If you silenced your device, you may not notice that someone is trying to reach you. To unsilence an Apple iPhone, toggle the ringer switch to the on position and use the volume buttons to increase the volume of incoming calls. On Android devices, use the volume buttons to increase the volume of incoming calls.
• Check your blocked numbers:
  • Android and Apple iOS devices let you block certain numbers from reaching you. Learn how to check and manage blocked numbers on Android and Apple iPhone devices so your phone can receive calls.
    
  • You can also check if you blocked numbers using Verizon services, like, Call Filter. Visit How to Block Numbers, Calls, Ads, Text Messages & Emails for more information.
• Check that you have network service - In locations with no network coverage, Wi-Fi Calling must be enabled so you can receive calls. Visit our Wi-Fi Calling at Verizon FAQs to learn more.
• Check that your device's software is updated - Out-of-date software can cause device issues. Check your Android or Apple software to ensure it’s the latest version.
• Turn off call forwarding -Call forwarding sends incoming calls to another phone number, preventing them from reaching your device. Learn how to turn off call forwarding so you can receive calls.  
• Troubleshoot your NumberShare service - If signed up for our NumberShare service, check to ensure your host device and connected device appear next to each other in My Verizon.
