Your phone can take and make calls around the globe.
In the US, you'll use the Verizon network.
Internationally, your phone can be used in any country where service is available. Refer to your international wizard for country specific information.
If you wish to use data while traveling, you need to enable data roaming. To do so, tap the Apps icon then swipe left and tap the Settings icon. Tap More then Cellular networks. Tap Data roaming access, select Allow access only for this trip or Allow access for all trips, then tap OK.
If you've added international service to your plan, your phone will automatically select the correct network when you land at your destination.
With your network selected, you’re ready to make a call.
To make a call, tap the Phone icon. Then tap the Dialer icon at the bottom of the screen.
To make a call outside the country you're in, hold the zero until the plus symbol appears. This will automatically add the exit code for the country from which you are calling.
Next, enter the country code of the country of the person you are calling, 1 for the US.
Then enter the area code or city code followed by the number of the person you are calling.
When making a call from your contacts while traveling outside of the US, assisted dialing will automatically add in the additional digits to your contact number.
Tap the Phone icon as usual to place the call.
To reduce your data usage while travelling outside the US, be sure to turn off apps and widgets that may be using the Internet in the background.
To turn off an individual app, tap the apps icon, then swipe left and tap the Settings icon. Scroll to Device and tap Apps. Swipe left to view the Running menu to see all apps currently running in the background. To stop an app, tap the app you'd like to stop, and tap Stop.
You can also restrict background data on all apps. Just tap the apps icon, then swipe left and tap the Settings icon. From there, select Data Usage. Tap the dotted icon in the top right corner to reveal a menu. Then select Restrict Background Data and tap OK.
Please note that certain features, like Caller ID, may not be available when traveling outside the US.
