The picture is crystal clear and it notifies me every time someone is near my door which I love because we live in the country lol and my kids freak out a lot when I’m not home before them. If I get the Arlo camera with audio and have a auto door opener that locks/unlocks/opens/closes my door over wifi would I still need the Arlo doorbell?

The Arlo Video Doorbell keeps an eye on your front door with the Arlo Video Doorbell. The built-in camera provides a 180-degree viewing angle that's optimized for the front door. Motion-activated notifications let you know when someone's at the door, and you can live stream the footage on your phone and tablet.

What if you do not have an existing doorbell, will it work

The Arlo Video Doorbell requires a voltage between 16-24V AC to operate and is designed to replace an existing wired doorbell. However, to install your Arlo Video Doorbell without an existing doorbell or chime, you can use a plug-in AC transformer that provides 16-24V AC, with at least 1A output.

No, an Arlo SmartHub or base station is optional to use the Arlo Essential Video Doorbell Wired. You can use an existing WiFi router to connect the doorbell directly to 2.4GHz WiFi. -Joe
