Hello perezil, we apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused. The Gear 360 app has reached end of service. After August 1st, 2020, no new phones will get the app, and it will stop getting updates, so it will be difficult to support the app if new bugs occur. The app will continue to work on the phones and computers it currently supports, however. End of service means that the developers have moved on to bigger and brighter things to support the latest generations of gear. The Gear 360 app will still be around, but if it's not one of the following devices, it may not be compatible or available for download: Android 6.0 to Android 10.0 on Google Play: Galaxy Fold (not including the Z flip), Galaxy S20 (not including the S20 Lite), Galaxy S10, S9, S8, S7, S6, Galaxy Note10, Note9, Note8, Note7, Note6, Note5, Galaxy A9 Pro, A8 (2018 / 2016), A7 (2018), iOS 10.0 to iOS 13.0 on the Apple Store: iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, XS Max, XS, XR, X, 8, 8 Plus, 7, 7 Plus, 6S, 6S Plus, SE. Is the note 8 compatible with the gear 360? If not why is it offered as a promo to buy the note 8 and doesn't tell you it's not compatible?
It is compatible with the note 8. I have both. You have to download the gear 360 app to your phone and it connects it to your camera
Is the note 8 compatible with the Gear 360? That's a great question, and you've come to the right place for answers. The Gear 360 is not compatible with the Note 8. This was a promotion directly through Samsung http://samsungpromotions.com/, so I am not sure why they offered the Gear 360 for free with the purchase of a Note 8. Why won't it charge
@Fifer It's important that you're able to successfully charge your Samsung Gear 360 (2017) camera. I'd like to recommend some steps that worked for another user. Plug the camera into a computer USB port with the supplied USB-C cable. Wait for the charging indicator light to illuminate above the power button. Disconnect the camera charging cable from the computer's USB port, then plug the camera's charging cable into a wall charger of your choice. This should work out for you. - Anthony

Does the Gear 360 (2017) work with the Note8?
Samsung is currently giving the gear 360 camera away free with the purchase of a Note 8. Hard to believe they would include a promo like that if they were incompatible. Mine shows up tomorrow. :)

Will this cam work as a home security alternative? I would like to access it from my phone if left within the house. Is that possible and if it is what else is needed to make it work? Thank you.
IronMBo, I know the importance of finding a cost effective way to monitor your home while away. This device can work as an alternative as it compact. It does not have night vision which will be useful for a security camera. The device is also only splash resistant so it would need to be covered if placed outdoors.
