Great Health Monitoring - just not in a pool

Beautiful watch for seniors wanting better health monitoring who are not in the other ecosystems. I upgraded from my previous Galaxy Watch Pro due to a great trade-in promotion. I was super excited to leverage the enhanced automatic swimming detection for my daily time in our small pool at the campground where we winter. Unfortunately, slowly walking into the pool to do leg lifts with the watch in water sports tracking and water lock on, I was alarmed that my screen wouldn't turn on when I got out. I didn't jump or splash around while wearing my watch (I'm 60) and it has never come back (after multiple attempts at drying in rice over 3 days). When I sent it in for repair, my warranty claim was denied due to water damage. For a watch advertised (even in the picture at the tip of this page) as being for water sports and water exercise monitoring, I don't understand why you can't enter a zero depth end of the pool and do leg lifts without ruining your expensive watch and not have the company honor the warranty (they suggested that I should have paid for the extra Care+ insurance) for their 100 meter and ocean certified watch. Please take this into account if you want to use the excellent health tracking in a pool...

Warranty Claim Denied Due To Swimming

I purchased a Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025 model) which is advertised as 10 ATM water resistant and specifically marketed for swimming. After one normal swim session in a chlorinated pool (with Water Lock mode enabled), the screen went completely blank and the watch became unresponsive. Samsung denied my warranty claim citing ‘liquid damage’ despite the watch being used exactly as advertised. This appears to be a widespread issue with Samsung watches failing under normal swimming conditions while the company refuses warranty coverage. I never had this issue with my previous 3 Galaxy Watches, and see this as a horrible upgrade to the Ultra "more rugged" version which Samsung won't support after swimming with it.

It's so very sleek and nice looking. I love the fact that I don't have to have my phone with me, and knowing I can make calls, texts etc without the phone with me. I am still getting use to slot of the widgets and things like that but so far it's definitely a 5 star watch.

I had the watch ⌚️ 6 classic. I didn't like that watch at all. Short battery life. And other diss likes. Now I have the Samsung galaxy watch 8 ultra. I absolutely love this watch. It can make it's own phone calls. Very long battery 🔋 life. And lots of other cool 😎 things it can do. I would recommend this watch ⌚️

Watch notifications are severly delayed

There is an ongoing issue with this watch and Samsung Galaxy Ultra 2024 as well as Galaxy Fold 7 devices where the notifications for the watch are all delayed anywhere from 15 minutes to a copule of hours where upon getting the notifications the watch buzzes with like5-10 messages all at one time but LATE. This issue has been reported online as a software issue as I have rebooted and reset both the watch as well as phones and still same results after a few hours of the restart.

Listen… I’m not out here crushing gym goals. The only time I break a sweat is at work or when I accidentally scare myself with my own reflection. But durability? Oh, that I need — because if something can be dropped, bumped, scraped, or yeeted across a room by accident, I will make it happen.
And the Galaxy Watch Ultra? This thing is basically shrugging at me like, “That all you got?” I’ve whacked it on doorframes, introduced it to the floor, and forgotten it was on my wrist while wrestling with my seatbelt. It still looks fresh like it just clocked in for its first day.
The screen is stupidly bright — like “I can see it in the sun without performing interpretive dance squints” bright. Battery life is great too. I’m not recharging it every five minutes like some needy Tamagotchi from 1999.
Notifications come through clean and fast, which is amazing because my phone is never where I left it. The watch is basically my wrist-based babysitter, tapping me like, “Hey, pay attention,” but in a polite, non-judgey way.
Honestly? I didn’t expect to actually love a smartwatch. But this one fits my life — which is roughly 70% chaos, 20% “oh no,” and 10% “did I just do that?” It keeps up, holds up, and never complains. If you need something tough enough for real life and classy enough to pretend you’ve got it together, this watch nails it.
