This is the review for my upgraded Hum as ive had my 1st one in a prior car so this is about both Hums ive ordered. I love the Hum cuz it shows all i need to know about my car(s) i need to know to keep it mechanically safe. It does everything it claims on the info part of the Hum itself. My car(s) need this ability to show all a person needs to know about the car. So glad i have this

I had this around 2 years ago maybe less, helped somewhat when it came to roadside which was good, but I loved the wifi during my roadtrips but when my car was stolen it couldn't get located because as soon as you unplug you can't locate it whatsoever ,it only told me last before it got unplugged, would be nice to add the feature like mobiles where it tells you when there is a disturbance near your car, towing also,verizon need to add that, i loved the wifi tho, it helped a lot but should alert when there is a disturbance near car

Hi Kayy. Thanks for your review. Yes, the Hum device gets its power from the car's OBD-II port. If it gets unplugged from the port, it no longer is powered and cannot provide its location. Thank you for your suggestion which we will share with our product managers.

Pinpoint Roadside Assistance provided by Signature Motor Club, Inc., up to 4 events per year. Many services require GPS service and/or network availability, not available in all locations. WiFi Option Great Not the Diagnostics

I can't even tell you how many years I've had a HUM in my vehicles. I can tell you that it threw me 7 codes the other day and none of them made sense when looking them up. So, I took the vehicle to get a service diagnostics and they said no codes were read. $300 for them to tell me the HUM is dumb.

I've had it for several years and vehicles

I originally bought it to keep track of my elderly uncle who liked to wonder and disappear for several hours at a time. It definitely gave my aunt peace of mind. After my uncle passed I installed in my car and it worked great to monitory cars maintenance and when it was stolen it worked amazingly to locate it.

I have had a HUM in a few different vehicles of mine. It was helpful when I had a vehicle stolen, and it has been extremely helpful in diagnosing issues wrong with my vehicle! The roadside assistance is incredible and much better than my own car insurance assistance. HUM alerted me something was wrong with my vehicle here recently and now I’m in the process of getting a brand new engine replaced. I will always have a HUM and will recommend to everyone! It has never been wrong on the codes that it pulls.

Brings high tech features to my older SUV

I love the features that Hum brings to my 2001 GMC Yukon SUV. The features that I find most useful are the diagnostics, so I get iPhone alerts when my car battery is running low and other diagnostics codes, and the built-in WiFi hotspot so my dashcam can get internet connectivity when I'm on the road. I also like the trip statistics so I know the distance, average speed, gas mileage, exact route that I took, etc. during long road trips. The only thing I don't like is having the safety score prominently displayed on the home page of the app. I feel that feature is kind of creepy like big brother is watching me when I go 5mph over the speed limit. I think that Verizon should make the app configurable so I can disable the safety score. That is more for keeping an eye on your teen driver.

The information is only available to you and anyone else on your Hum account. I bought this about 2 years ago and it has been working flawlessly. I bought it just to have in-vehicle wi-fi until I get a new vehicle, wi-fi speeds are slow but 'workable'. This morning I opened my vehicle door in the garage only to hear a loud beeping sounds coming from the HUM and a strong electrical buring smell. I reached my hand under the dash to felt the Hum but could not touch it as it was too hot. I had to get a rag to remove it to prevent a burn to my fingers. I have to wonder at some point if it would have caught fire! I tested the OBDII port with other adapters and everything shows fine and works as it should. This seems to be a very dangerous internal fault with the unit. Of course, Verizon being Verizon, did not care one bit, and offered a new one at full price plus an added activation fee, disgusting. I would be very scared to have this in my vehicle again, especially in a gargage.

Does the Hum work with Carlinkit Tbox UHD Android 13 CarPlay AI Box? Also, does the Hum get charged by the OBD port?

The Hum device is powered by the OBD-II port. No; Hum does not work with CarPlay AI Box as it needs to be connected directly to the OBD-II port to function.

Does the HUM give real time tracking as well as notifications? Can you get location directly off app or only by contacting someone?

With the Hum app you can view your vehicle's location on the map. You can also set location boundary alerts to be notified when your vehicle leaves or arrives at a specific location.

You can keep your wireless carrier for your other devices, but Hum is sold and activated on Verizon. So, you could create a Verizon account just for Hum.

My car offers this service via a different provider, will this still work in my car?

Hi Sherri. That all depends. If the other service does not use the car's OBD-II port, then Hum should work. Hum plugs into the port for its power and to read auto health indicators such as diagnostic trouble codes and battery status.
