We first purchased the Orbit as a hotspot for our travel trailer when we go camping. In-between camping trips, we bring it indoors to help boost our cell phones. In both cases we have enjoyed the Orbit for 3 years! We keep it plugged in electrically at all times.

Worked for a year just fine. Purchased for an older friend of ours who needed internet in his apartment for his iPad. I was informed this week when my friend said it stayed on the hello screen by Verizon technical support after trying everything they recommended, including resetting it with the switch in the back and trying to reset it with my laptop that there is nothing they can do because on 23 August the #Warranty was up. Now I have a $250 device that I have to use a computer to look at the battery level or make any adjustments to the password or see how many devices are connected seems like a flawed design from the get-go if it’s going to get stuck on the hollow screen after Verizon updated the software electronic electronically over the web and probably corrupted the file when it was not fully charged when this process took place. So the moral of the story is definitely pay for the warranty or better yet, don’t waste your money on this device that is not worth the price of admission.

Keeps going offline with no remote power cycling

Very frustrating experience for the past year with this device. It isn’t robust enough to recover from a hiccup or weather-related outage affecting the Verizon cellular signal. I bought a backup power system to avoid power outage issues but still have an issue. It’s a 7-hour drive to go push the reset button and wait 15 minutes to confirm it’s working again.

Ok when it works but, otherwise junk.

When it works it’s fine. However, it is painfully slow at booting up, shutting down or scrolling screens for information. It won’t do updates OTA- I have to tediously connect and use a laptop. It crashes frequently requiring a shut down and restart. Sometimes it requires removal of the battery to get it to restart. When I purchased it at the Verizon store I was told it was activated and ready to go. After an hour of trying to connect unsuccessfully, I spent a subsequent hour with support getting it activated and functional.

Overheats and shuts down

Works fine when you first turn it on but quickly overheats and shuts down. We have even left it in a cooler to try and make it last longer. Eventually it always overheats. What a waste.

My 5G cellphone works perfectly in my home and so does my old 4G Orbic device, but this Orbic Speed 5G UW hotspot was painfully slow. Trust me, I tried everything. After nearly a year, I switched to the Orbic Speed X 5G which is $100 less in price and yet it works a lot better.

Worst product I have ever had from Verizon

Have owned this junk for over a year and have never been able to get great reliability out of it. 8 months ago a prompt to update the software kept popping up but the update failed no matter what I did. Asked Verizon and was told that unit needs to be replaced but the thin plastic garbage they have over the screen has a crack in it ( probably caused by keeping in my back pack, they could not replace therefore I’m left with a pile of plastic that is basically a brick now. Thanks Orbic & Verizon great job.

Not sure if it’s Verizon or this device but the service is terrible! It goes from 5G to no service ever 5 minutes! It’s so bad I had to get AT&T and its works great. I honestly feel ripped off.
