Do you have to charge it separately from the iPad or does it charge while you have it connected to a "changing" iPad?
The keypad draws power from the iPad. You can charge your iPad directly or via the USB-C port on the keyboard. -Lauren
Thanks for your inquiry! To charge an Apple Magic Keyboard, connect a USB-C to Lightning cable to the Lightning port on the back of the keyboard, then plug the other end into a USB port on your Mac or a USB power adapter; the keyboard will automatically charge while connected. -Christy

Does the keyboard detach?
From the details we have on it there is no mention of it being detachable. Additional support would be available for it through Apple's website directly though. -Josh
