The first thing I noticed was how solid and premium they feel—very Oakley. They don’t feel gimmicky or fragile at all, which was my biggest concern going into smart glasses.
Fit-wise, they’re comfortable and well-balanced. Even with the tech built in, they don’t feel heavy on my face, and I can wear them for hours without pressure on my nose or ears. They still look like regular Oakleys, which I love—nothing about them screams “tech gadget.”
The audio quality surprised me the most. The speakers are clear, loud enough for outdoor use, and I can still hear what’s going on around me. It’s perfect for calls, music, or quick voice commands without blocking out the world.
The camera is super convenient for quick photos or short videos. I like that I can capture moments hands-free without pulling out my phone—it feels natural and instant. The image quality is solid for social content and everyday memories.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been using the Oakley Meta Glasses for about a month now, and they have been surprisingly helpful, convenient, and practical for a myriad of different reasons. Being completely honest, my favorite feature has been the ability to stream my Spotify playlists at the office through the Bluetooth connection. The speakers are close to your ear which allows the wearer to listen at decently loud levels, and nobody else around can hear unless they literally put their head right next to the frames. I love this feature because I can still listen to my music in an office environment that frowns upon wearing headphones. I also use the glasses for making and receiving phone calls, and again, the sound quality is fantastic, and everyone I’ve talked to can’t tell a difference between the clarity of my voice through the glasses versus my iPhone. Lastly, the camera quality isn’t bad if you’re trying to snap a photo hands free. However, if quality was a consideration for the photo, or video for that matter, I’d still opt to use my iPhone or DSLR. I’m sure the camera technology will only improve on future iterations of the glasses.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Meta glasses are definitely the future, today. However, they were less feature rich than I was expecting. If you are comfortable wearing AirPods and accessing Siri that way you might feel underwhelmed by the Meta glasses. Having such easy access to capturing photo and videos is definitely appreciated but likely only in limited use cases such as travel. The audio playback was impressive although can be heard by others in close proximity. With several upgrades and the introduction of additional features, I can see how these would be a real winner for a lot of folks.

Integrated Accessibility but Needs to Give Back

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got these smart glasses not realizing that they were THE Meta AI glasses I’ve been hearing a lot about. I am staunchly against generative AI, so it was actually quite interesting to review them because I take my privilege to review very seriously and try to remain unbiased as possible. The good thing about these glasses is that they have the UV transition lenses and can be converted into corrective eyewear if needed. I found that the transition did take a while before getting more opaque. I like the purple tint a lot. There is no curve to the ear section of the glasses so I did find that it dug in a little bit in the back of my ears. They are wide for me, but I imagine that is to fit a variety of head and face shapes. I did not like that I had to sign up for a Meta AI account. I also did not like that the app takes up a lot of space on my phone. I did not like the generative AI images upon opening the app as I find them disturbing. I will say I think there are a lot of good things like the Be My Eyes integration and the foreign language translation integration. I actually do like the video and photo aspect because it keeps me hands-free, especially on my nature walks (hence my weather appropriate outfit.) I can see where there could be ethical issues here, but the app does state that you should always get permission before filming or taking photos which I would hope people would respect. The speakers in the earpieces are actually very nice and very good quality. Everything is clear sounding. This is the feature I used most, especially on walks and in bed when I didn’t want to put headphones in. My biggest concern that would probably change my opinion to a more favorable one is that the energy consumption that the servers are using is doing more damage to the environment than I think is worth the product. I think Meta AI needs to invest in giving back to the communities that they are building warehouses in as well as supporting and giving back to the environment. I think these glasses could be a wonderful accessibility tool, but as is, there needs to be more accountability than just giving us a cool product. We need more investment back into what is being taken from the environment. I wish I could opt out of certain features of this product, again, like the “art” in the app. I would much prefer just having access to the speaker system, the Be My Eyes, the translation, and the video. I do find the noise of the Meta chime to be loud compared to what’s playing for music, it’s a little jarring when first putting them on. I think a lot of people will really like these glasses and I can see their value, but I really hope that Meta AI can invest back into our planet what it is taking.

I have been using these on my walks instead to listen to music and it has been nice to still be able to hear and be more aware of my surroundings. I was worried they might feel heavy but they’re pretty lightweight, the overall quality of the glasses and the charging case feels really nice as well. I have really been enjoying these so far!

I can’t wait to put my prescription in them and use them all the time. The sound quality listening to music is very surprising. I did not think it would sound so good. I love looking through them and asking Meta what I’m looking at or other questions about the weather and what not. It’s very useful. The charging case, to the sunglasses itself, feels very quality and durable. I can’t wait to use them for all my adventures.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Reliable, powerful, and stylish. The amount of features that these Oakley Meta glasses have to offer are endless. These glasses are comfortable and stay in place whenever I’m taking a run at the park. The transitions are the best I’ve seen. The transition occurs immediately when in contact with the sun. As soon as I step back into the building, my glasses are back to the normal lenses. The tint isn’t too dark or distracting either. The glasses are not only nice to wear but offer support in daily tasks. The reminder feature that Meta offers cuts down on workload and productivity. Whenever I speak to Meta, she is doesn’t just feel like a simple AI. I’ve been able to cook recipes without referring to videos or a book with her help. Meta does very well reading text messages out to me so that I can go hands free when necessary. I’ve also had her reply to my contacts and the interaction occurs within seconds. Each interaction with Meta sounds natural. She even responds to small talk.
The sound quality is outstanding. When talking on the phone with someone, it’s as if the person is right next to you. The music output is also great. I can tell the music is at a distance but the quality is still good enough to allow me to be entertained. When you want to capture a picture, it’s easy to just press the button on the right side of the glasses. The resolution is impressive with how high it is. If you need help with understanding something, Meta does a wonderful job at AI recognition. It easily identified my desktop background, a book, and a few other things. It’s easy to record video shorts too.
The charge time for the glasses is fast. Thirty minutes to an hour and my glasses are already charged. Whenever I can’t be home, it’s nice that the case can charge my glasses. It’s convenient and performs just as well at charging the glasses without a wall plug needed. When I do have the case plugged up and my glasses inside, both the case and glasses charge. My only complaint is how it’s a bit of a hassle to remove the glasses from the case. The glasses attach to the charge and there’s not too much room for easy removal. Other than that, these glasses are the best. They’re game changing.
