If your home is large, an extender can help get a stronger Wi-Fi signal from the router to hard-to-reach spots in your home.
The E3200 Extender works with these Verizon Internet Gateway models:
- ARC-XCI55AX
- ASK-NCQ1338
- ASK-NCQ1338FA
Note: The E3200 Extender doesn't work with Verizon Internet Gateway WNC-CR200A.

Visit the setup instructions for the E3200 Extender.
After the initial setup:
- You can change extender settings online.
- If you're having trouble getting an adequate signal, see Where should I place the extender?
- For a faster connection between router and extender, read about wired vs. wireless pairing in the User Guide (PDF*).
Finding the best spot for an extender may take some experimenting.
To find a good location for a Wi-Fi extender:
- Use the Wi-Fi Analyzer tool in My Verizon app to figure out where the signal weakens.
- Place the extender upright, between the router and the area needing a stronger signal.
- Reduce signal interference by choosing a spot that is:
- At least 10 feet from cordless phones or microwaves.
- Away from extreme heat/cold, moisture or excessive dust.
- Away from large metal objects.
- Check the lights on the router to help guide you. Visit: Understanding status lights on the E3200 Extender
Here’s how to let guests use the Wi-Fi network when you have an extender:
- Guests can connect directly to your router if the router has Guest Wi-Fi enabled.
- Guests can only connect through Wi-Fi if the extender is wired to the router. When wired together, the router and extender both broadcast the same Guest Wi-Fi name.
Learn more about wired versus wireless pairing in the E3200 User Guide (PDF*).
The E3200 Extender is broadcasting a different name for my Wi-Fi network than the Gateway does. How can I make the network name the same for both?
If the extender isn't displaying the same name for your Wi-Fi network as the Gateway does, reboot the extender:
- Unplug the power cable and then plug it back in.
- Allow 5 minutes for the extender to reboot and display the same Wi-Fi name as the Gateway.
If rebooting doesn't work, refer to the User Guide (PDF*) and use manual pairing.
