I have a little secret, something I've been scared to tell even my closest friends. After a few months of using a smartphone, I grew disenchanted with swiping and tapping. Gasp!
There, I said it.
Missing that tactile experience, I searched for phones with old-school buttons, only to find that even the BlackBerry® phones had become sleek-ified.
Fortunately, I’m not alone. Legions of diehard BlackBerry fans mourned the extinction of their reliable Curve, Pearl, Torch or Bold. BlackBerry heard our cries, and answered with a delightful new spin on what we’ve been craving: The BlackBerry Classic is here!
What’s making a comeback?
BlackBerry phones feel great in your hand, and the powerful-yet-simple Classic is no exception. The beloved physical QWERTY keyboard with ergonomic keys paired with a grippy, textured back panel makes it perfect for dashing off quick emails in a cab or subway. And the 2,500 mAh battery will give you up to a full day of power so you can get your work done without having to hunt down an outlet.
BlackBerry diehards will also enjoy the return of the navigation keys and optical track pad that their thumbs fell in love with years ago, along with keyboard shortcuts. It's packaged in a sleek, fingerprint-resistant, stainless steel casing with an ultra-durable Corning® Gorilla® Glass screen.
What’s new to love?
Despite vintage features reappearing, this isn’t your dad’s BlackBerry. The BlackBerry 10 operating system means cool newfangled technology, including an improved BlackBerry Assistant (how about hearing your emails read to you, and replying via voice command without touching a button?) and NFC pairing capability. Plus, it has a 3.5-inch touchscreen and 8 megapixel camera.
Also, thanks to BlackBerry 10, you can discover and download not only BlackBerry apps, but Android™ apps through the Amazon Appstore as well. Time to unwind? For me, I love playing the freakishly addictive Dots and cognitively challenging Unblock Me, which are both available for the Classic.
Just the key for button-lovers
BlackBerry decided not to reinvent the wheel this time around, so they kept BlackBerry's real QWERTY keyboard. Some things were never broken, and didn't need fixing. Your BlackBerry keypad is one of those things. BlackBerry Classic gives you new things to love, and old things you don't have to give up. Classic!
