The new Verizon Plan FAQs

The plan is no longer available to add to accounts. If you have this plan, you get a set amount of 4G LTE / 5G¹ monthly data (e.g., S, M, L size) to share with all lines on your account. Each line included in your shared data plan also gets:

• Unlimited talk and text
• Unlimited International Messaging from the US
• Mobile Hotspot on capable devices

With the new Verizon plan you can:

• Keep unused data for another month with Carryover Data
• Stay online after you've used your data with Safety Mode
• Add data when you need it with a Data Boost
• Control your account and monitor usage in My Verizon website or with the My Verizon app

Note: If you got a shared data plan before 7/7/16, you have the original Verizon Plan. The original plan gives different data amounts per size than current shared data plans and doesn't include Safety Mode, Carryover Data, and other features. These shared data plans are listed as "The new Verizon plan" in your My Verizon account and on your bill (e.g., "The new Verizon Plan - M 4 GB").

Yes, if you're on a current XL or XXL shared data plan, you can use your domestic talk, text and data allowance in Canada or Mexico.

If you have our current S, M or L shared data plan, for $5/day you can get our TravelPass®, which lets you use your phone in Canada and Mexico with:

• Unlimited calls
• Unlimited messages
• Use of your domestic plan data

Consider switching to myPlan:

• Unlimited Ultimate includes international talk, text and data in 210+ countries and destinations.
• Unlimited Plus and Unlimited Welcome include international talk, text and data in Mexico and Canada. For other countries, you can add a 3 TravelPass Days perk for $10/month (a $36/month value).

Every device you include in your shared data plan can send and receive unlimited text and multimedia messages internationally from inside the US.

No, you can’t switch from a current plan back to an older plan.

You won't be charged overages if you have Safety Mode turned on:

• Instead, when you reach your monthly data allowance, your data speeds will be reduced to 128 kbps until the next bill cycle.
• If you want more high-speed data at that time, you can buy a Data Boost for $15/GB. Any amount you don't use will carry over to the next month.
• If you don't have Safety Mode turned on, overages are billed at $20/GB, rounded up. For example, if you use 250 MB over your allowance, you'll be charged $20. Any remaining portion of the extra GB carries over for you to use the next month.

Good to know: You can set your Communications Preferences in My Verizon so you know when you're getting close to your data allowance.

You can monitor and manage the data usage for the devices on your shared plan in My Verizon.

Yes, you can check your data any time in My Verizon. Or:

• By phone: Call #DATA (#3282) from your mobile phone. You'll get a text message with your data usage details.
• The My Verizon app: Tap the Menu icon in the top left and tap Data Hub.

You can see a summary of your charges online on the Bill Summary page in My Verizon.
