It's primarily used for certain basic phones and older smartphones and tablets.
Most devices use Verizon Cloud instead of Backup Assistant. Verizon Cloud can back up your contacts, as well as your pictures, videos and more.
However, certain basic phones and older devices aren't compatible with Verizon Cloud, so you can use Backup Assistant on these devices to save and transfer your contacts. Learn how to verify if your device is compatible with Backup Assistant or Verizon Cloud.
Backup Assistant comes already installed on most compatible devices.
If you don’t see it on your basic phone, refer to our steps on how to download Backup Assistant on a basic phone.
If you don't see it on your smartphone, search for "Backup Assistant" in your device's app store and follow the onscreen prompts to download it. If you don't see the Backup Assistant app in your app store, your device is likely not compatible.

No, your Backup Assistant account can be associated with only one device at a time.

In most cases these numbers are identical, but if they differ, you should select No when Backup Assistant shows you the incorrect number during the number verification process. A text message will be sent to your device to identify the correct number. When your correct number is shown, select Yes to continue the installation.
